Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas
Slow cooked tenderness.
Great for carnitas, tacos, or burritos
Ingredients:

4
lb. pork shoulder
·
2
onions, sliced
·
3
cloves garlic, peeled
·
1
T chili powder
·
2
t ground cumin
·
2
t dried oregano
·
2
t salt
·
1
t ground black pepper
·
2
oranges, juiced
·
2
limes, juiced
·
Tomato,
shredded cheese and guacamole for topping
Directions:
1. Combine chili powder,
cumin, oregano, salt and pepper, in a small bowl
2. Rub pork shoulder
with spice mixture
3. Place pork shoulder
into a slow cooker
4. Cover pork with
onions, garlic, orange juice, lime juice
5. Cover and cook on low
heat for 8 hours
6. Remove pork shoulder and
shred the meat
7. Return pork to the
pot with the juices, keep warm
8. Preheat oven to broil
9. Assemble carnitas on
a baking sheet and broil until crisp, about 3 minutes
10. Top with tomato, shredded
cheese and guacamole
*Carnita
meat freezes well. Make a double batch
and freeze in
portion
size bags for an easy week night meal.
